I just made a TWO-STEP-switch on 12/30/2020.
STEP-1: Switched to “Frontier Power 3”. Date of Service: 01/02/2021 (click to enlarge)
STEP-2: Switched to “Gexa Choice Secure 6”. Date of Service: 03/30/2021 (click to enlarge)
Combination of 9(3+6) months would cruise to 9/30/2021. Connection Fee of $0.15 would let me choose the exact switch date.* 14 (calendar) days law: www.puc.texas.gov/consumer/facts/faq/electricity.aspx “The residential customer can switch without incurring an early termination charge if the switch is no earlier than 14 days before the contract expiration date provided in the notice.”

hi, Bob. Are you required to be a "new customer" on these plans as you switch?

Most of them require “New Customers”. I was with Tara Energy. So there’s no problem for me with switching to a different company other than Tara.
It’s ok to switch to a “different” company that you’ve previously used. As long as it’s not the same as you’re using right now.
I've used Frontier and Gexa before. Just not at the moment of my switching. :)

For the same reason, I made sure that STEP-2 is a “different” company as STEP-1.
